5 Phone Interview Tips
1. Do Your Research:
Plan for your phone interview just as you would for an in-person interview. Being underprepared can put you in a position where you find yourself stumbling over your answers.
2. Practice Your Answers:
Practice formulating answers to any and all phone interview questions you might be asked. It’s essential to be prepared for a variety of potential questions. It’s also necessary to practice your responses with your friends, family, or record yourself.
3. Be professional:
It’s important to be respectful and kind throughout your interview. This professional tone can leave a great impression on your interviewer, and they’ll remember that as they consider you for their position.
4. Be an active listener:
Be attentive, ask insightful questions, and engage with your recruiter or interviewer. Being attentive will highlight that you are taking the interview seriously and genuinely care about what your interviewer has to say. Practicing with friends or family could be greatly beneficial. Ensure you’re listening to every word and follow-up with questions that show you were actively listening to what they were saying.
5. Send a thank-you email:
Soon after your phone interview, send your interviewer a thank-you email. Thank them for their time, including a few relevant details you discussed, and express your continued interest in the role. ... See MoreSee Less
